Ingredients
  

Cornbread Batter

  • 1 package cornbread mix or use homemade cornbread batter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 1/2 cup smoked Gouda cheese grated

For Cooking and Serving

  • olive oil or non-stick spray for greasing the waffle iron
  • honey for drizzling

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your mini waffle maker and lightly grease it with olive oil or non-stick spray.
  • In a bowl, prepare the cornbread batter according to package directions or your homemade recipe.
  • Stir in the grated smoked Gouda cheese until evenly mixed.
  • Scoop 1–2 tablespoons of batter into each section of the waffle maker. Cook until golden and crisp, about 3–5 minutes.
  • Transfer cooked waffle bites to a plate and immediately drizzle with honey while warm.

Notes

For a spicy twist, add chopped jalapeños to the batter before cooking. You can also freeze the cooked bites and reheat them in a toaster oven for easy snacking!
